Ready for a break

Dave and I are ready for Thanksgiving break. Getting married in the middle of a semester is something we would not recommend. However, we both love being married. It's like having a sleep-over with your best friend every night. Since we choose to get married in the middle of the semester, our school work was lacking. As we try to catch up before finals, we often miss each other at home. Last week Dave had a huge project due. I am so grateful to have a hard-working husband, but I think he got a bit burned out. Dave left at 6:00 in the morning and often didn't come home until 11:00 or 12:00 at night. After he turned in his project on Thursday, we finally had a night when both of us were going to be home. I was excited to make some cookies, cuddle up and watch a movie.
Before I went to my friend's bridal shower, I made cookies to eat that night.

I got home from the bridal shower super excited to spend some time with my husband and this is what I got.

Like I said, I am very grateful for a hard-working husband, but this was too funny to resist.

Another problem we have encountered is coldness. We decided we don't have enough money to pay to heat our little apartment. To do our homework, we bundle up in sweatshirts and blankets. It's a little cumbersome when we have to type, but it's worth not falling short on our bills.

However, a few days later it got down to 55 degrees in our house, Dave decided to turn on the heat. It's been nice. I hope we can make the bill.

Bills are a new concept for me. Before getting married, I had paid for everything in full with money I actually had. Credit, bills, debt don't really mean anything to me. If I didn't have enough money, I didn't buy it. Therefore, I didn't have any bills. With scholarships and a generous father, I have been able to pay for school without going into debt. Now is a different story. The other day when our gas bill came, I divided up all of our wedding money and my pay check into tithing, rent, gas, electric and opening a joint bank account for Dave and me. Then I started putting the cash into the envelopes to pay the bills. Dave asked me what I was doing, I answered simply "Paying the bills" I didn't realize that you can't pay bills with cash. Just goes to show you how naive I am in this aspect. Something funny about me, I suppose.

Just us

Hello! This is the blog for Dave and Karlee Waddoups. We just got married on October 16th, 2009 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. Sooner or later I will have links to all of our web presences (our facebooks, photoblog, website, twitter, linkedin, etc...) as well as our story. How we met, our courtship, how he proposed, our wedding, moving in, and whatever may come after. But for now, enjoy one of our wedding pictures that is posted on Lavinda Hedman's (our photographer) blog. Thanks for visiting and you are more than welcome to bookmark our blog.
